Sean McKeag graduated in 2014 with a bachelors degree in photojournalism from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to the mountainous coal-mining town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and began his career as a staff photographer with the Times Leader. After spending a couple of years there, he moved over to the competitive newspaper, The Citizens’ Voice, and eventually was promoted to the The Citizens’ Voice sister paper, The Times-Tribune in Scranton, Pennsylvania where he works presently. He has also worked freelance for The Boston Globe, The Associated Press, and after getting his FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate in 2024, he started his own business doing aerial imagery for real estate and businesses.

His photography has earned multiple honors, including Keystone Media Awards from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association, recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, and awards in the Associated Press Sports Editors Contest for his impactful work in community journalism.
